Attractive specimen of clear tabular faden quartz. The specimen has contact areas at both ends (top, bottom in the picture) where it was removed from the host material.
The term “faden quartz” refers to usually tabular quartz with a white growth “thread” running through the center. Faden quartz forms within gradually widening fissures in the host rock, where the crystals rupture and heal as the fissure grows wider (see https://www.mindat.org/min-46656.html.)
